The guy appears afraid and enraged, and his face suggests that he is being pursued by an unknown character.  Lighting: The lighting is changing from white to dark, which heightens the excitement while the term "dark" stands for danger. The white lab coat, the yellow pole, and the button on the elevator are a few examples of less-dark areas in the photograph. The character believes that something is about to go awry because of the illumination.  Setting: The character in this scenario is an investigator conducting study in a laboratory, hence the scene is set there. While the name "dark" connotes danger, the illumination is moving from white to dark, which heightens the thrill.
